Had I been flying a Colt when this incident took place, I don't believe my student and I would be alive today.
I read the whole story as posted and have to wonder how a Colt would have killed them where the Cessna wouldn't. As for myself, I'd like to think I would have paid attention to the red flags when the G1 failed to hold short the first time, and called a missed approach when they missed the second stop. Of course, I wasn't there, but still... I have to wonder what makes the Colt so deadly when a C150 sufficed well enough.

Sounds like it's from a performance standpoint.
He doesn't think the colt would have been able to turn and climb and miss that tail with them onboard.

you guys are both right right and the problem wasn't with the Colt's performance versus the 150--it was the instructors lack of vigilance........ I see a story like that and feel it demonstrates the protection that God provides for idiots. That said, I'll freely admit I've probably been saved by the same mercy more than once :-[

Agreed, they should have never gotten to that point in the first place.
