Selfie Stick II
So the selfie stick saga continues … and comes to an end as quickly as it started. Actually, I think it was an image of somebody shooting a selfie like this from outside his airplane that inspired the strip. I guess that person had a better grip than Chuck, or I we would not have been able to see the image. But I wonder how many people have tried and fared a similar fate as Chuck in this strip. I guess the success rate depends on how fast your airplane can travel …
I’m surprised Chuck didn’t push that thing through the propellor arc trying to get a head-on shot…
What happens when the phone hits the ground. Or something else. Once had a prop spinner come lose. That made a hell of a bang. Watched the newspapers for weeks to see if it hit someone.

To truly end things, Chuckles should dive after it. Plane is optional. So is living, frankly…
If it’s the photo I’m thinking of, that one was nicely photoshopped.
And who was foolish / daring / bribed enough to issue Chuck with a MEP rating? We only saw him flying the C172 or some choppers, I thought? There was a Twin Otter around, true, but did we ever see Chuck actually piloting it?
Chuck just need some duct(duck) tape. Launched several 172’s with an additional antenna for video down link duct taped to the strut. Definitely did not meet FAA specifications, however, over 100 flight hours on multiple air frames and no lost antennas with some impressed folks at the State EOC. Not that I recommend it but if Chuck had duck taped the selfie stick to his wrist/arm he would still have it. No guarantees as to anything attached to the selfie stick. .

Chuck has lots of twin time. You must not have read book 4 yet …
I was going to ask the same thing; when did Chuck gets entrusted with a twin-engine plane? And no, I have not read Volume 4. Can’t afford it at the moment. 🙁
Roost-Air does own a Twin Piper and a Twin Otter. So, Chuck is rated on these aircraft believe it or not. This may be a scary thought for some, we understand 😉
And of course there is a lot of content in our books you can’t find online. The idea behind was to sell books actually. Or would you guys rather skip the books in the future and work out some sort of online thing with additional material for a small fee? This might be the latest trend since books have become thing of the past. I guess we never talked about this before. There would need to be some paid content along with free stuff and teasers because we do need some money to keep Roost-Air in business. Chicken Wings isn’t solely a hobby and if doesn’t at least break even, it will probably go away to make room for “making a living” unfortunately…

I’ve been following this strip for over a decade now. Somehow, I missed that the books have extra content.
I’ve also been in school much of that time. Guess I’ll start having to save up to get me some books!

Yes, book 1 has all the classic strips we used to do in black and white which are not online except a few here and there when we do a “throwback”. Book 4 has a whole adventures series over several pages where Chuck and Julio fly to Alaska for a job (in a twin engine btw). 2 and 3 have a lot of single panel jokes, and so forth….
Reading my post again it looks a little doom and gloom – that’s not exactly what I wanted to convey. But we are constantly facing the issue that we have tons of ideas and plans on what we want to do with the website and all the material we want to put out which constantly gets put on the back-burner because we need to go make a living. As I am writing this I am sitting in Greece waiting for a fire and Stefan is working on a website design for another company. If we could dial that back we could crank up Chicken Wings. It is, after all, one of the reasons why the last book took so long to make this time around.
The other fact is that we see General Aviation disappear even though we fight so hard to keep or get young people engaged. It’s not new to anybody, I know. GA has gotten way too complicated and expensive and/or maybe video games are to blame but I rarely see kids hanging out at airports anymore like I used to do as youngster. And aviation magazines are going away. So we are facing a few hurdles in the years to come. Everywhere I go I see more and more empty hangars and I really find it heartbreaking because aviation is such a great field to be in if you like adventure and mechanical stuff.
However Chuck and Julio have become such an integral part of our life that we can never give up on them. We just wish they would get into more adventures than they currently are…
