Red Alert!

I’m sure at a point in the not too distant future, they will have holograms or head-up-display like markings of flight restricted zones, like in the movie Oblivion, for example. Until then, air traffic controllers will have to deal with Chuck and others like him.

Great movie, by the way, Oblivion. Say what you want about Tom Cruise, but he sure has a way (or agent) to pick the best movies. Another one I really enjoyed was “Edge of Tomorrow”. Oh and there was this old legendary one from the 80s of course … it’s on the tip of my tongue … Cocktail! Yeah. Wait …

There’s already ways to see if one is headed into a restricted area or TFR – they are displayed very clearly on many GPS’s and ForeFlight. I guess restricted areas aren’t quite as conspicuous on such as TFRs, blend in a little more with other airspace markings than the bright red circles of TFRs. The pilot does need to look at the GPS or iPad to see those, and know what they mean, so might not help Chuck – he probably does need a holographic wall displayed in front of him to realize it. As a cartoon pilot, Chuck’s pilot’s license seems to be as invulnerable as most cartoon character’s lives – no matter what Tom and Jerry hit each other with, neither ever die.

Take a look at glass.aero. That is even more futuristic than a HUD! And it might be good for Chuck, if he doesn’t break it…
