Shoveling snow off the hangar

For those of you, who deal with snow every year, I do not envy you. I have no idea how you do it. I like to visit the snow, enjoy the romantic quiet and calm of a fresh snow falling, even dig out the car once or twice in the morning on the way to the slopes. Then leave again, HAHA!
But live and commute in it, not so much.
Now, some of you might immediately say “But Mike, you’re Austrian! How come you can’t handle the snow?”. To those I say, I was born in South Africa, only spent maybe 14 years actually living in Austria, then spent a year in Cyprus (the place with the most sun in all of Europe), then moved to Southern California, and finally into the desert of Nevada. And there you have it.
It does snow into the valley of Las Vegas every few years or so. It is actually kind of hilarious because everything stops, including the airport. There is no snow removal and people freak out. Makes the whole city go quiet. Kinda cool actually.

When I lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, my response to snow and cold was “I grew up in Minnesota. By the time I was 18 I’d already exceeded my life’s quota of winter weather.”

Down here in Northern Belgium I saw no more than a few fleeting flakes that would melt on long final, well before any chance of touch-down; and was sincerely disappointed. Where are the winters of yore?
Still, February is well before us, yet, statistically the coldest month in most years, so there’s some hope left.
