The Wrongh Brothers
This is a very special strip for us. The reason is because it’s not only one of the many strips we didn’t invent but also the fact that the baby on panel two is ME!
This whole thing happened on a flight home from South Africa back in 1975 where our mother had the pleasure of sharing the coach cabin with a bunch of drunk German tourists on their way home from vacation. This is exactly how it went down (except for the knitting part).
When our dad told us this story this Christmas we first laughed about it, then I was shocked that my own mother would offer to just give me away like that for a few moments of peace and quiet, and finally we thought the story would make a good strip, especially because her threat had worked so well. My brother took a long time to come up with a chicken that resembles our mother. It’s a tough thing to do as you can imagine.
Secondly, this strip introduces “THE WRONGH BROTHERS”!
The Wrongh Brothers briefly apeared in a strip first published in Trade-a-Plane where they buzz a control tower with a Cessna 172 (or 152 …who knows, it’s a cartoon plane).
It occurred to us that they would be the perfect fit for a bunch of characters who dare to do things even Chuck wouldn’t do because he is basically a good guy who can differentiate right from wrong . . . for the most part, and at least in his mind.
So these guys will hopefully teach us what not to do in aviation. It took us a while to come up with a name for the two. But we think the ones among you who know a little about aviation history will find the name very fitting and hopefully as funny as we thought it was.
