Impending Controller Shortage?
Here is a slightly political strip for a change:There seems to be a few problems brewing when it comes to the future of ATC and general aviation. I talked to a lot of people at the last airshow and a lot of them seem to be frustrated that IFR and airline traffic always has priority over small GA planes worrying that the airlines might eventually take over ATC in this country. We’ve also seen similar discussions in many aviation forums. It looks to me that it might get worse since we seem to be approaching a controller shortage in the near future which means fewer controllers for less pay having a higher workload.I know everybody is trying to cut costs but safety is not the right place to save money in my mind...We rotorheads have it easy since we can zip by underneath most busy airspace but a lot of little GA planes are not so lucky. So we present the “Chicken Wings” way of looking at this problem which, in this case, might be slightly sarcastic. We hope it makes you chuckle! (get it? chuck-le..- haha!)
