It's Zulu Time!

Here's another chapter of Chuck's guidebook to aviation. In our encyclopedia we wrote what Zulu Time means (which is GMT, or Greenwich Mean Time), but that we didn't really know where the name derives from. Fortunately we have some attentive and educated readers. You know, you and the other one. In this case, the other one was Jamie, who wrote us and explained that the name Zulu Time comes from Zulu being the word for "Z" in the phonetic alphabet, whereas "Z" derives from Zero.
So, we feel a bit smarter now. And we've also came up with today's strip while pondering about this important subject. Thanks Jamie! What we still don't know is why it isn't called "Zero Time" or just plainly "Greenwich Time" in the first place. Most likely it's just a word made up by pilots who don't want others to understand what they're talking about. Or is there anyone out there who has the real explanation for that?
