CAP, TFR's, and more...

Coincidently, the same time our first CAP strip came out I am getting to see them in action here in Winnemucca, NV. They are looking for a missing white and blue Piper Cub in the area which got lost somewhere in the Jackpot vicinity. I met the pilots' wife and brother this morning in my hotel. It's pretty heartwrenching I tell you. So I just wanted to shout out a big "THANK YOU" to the CAP for their search and rescue efforts!

Also, because of this and the president being in travel mode again, the TFR issue came up once more. I am sure many of you remember our last TFR jokes about Washington. . .
HERE IS SOME USEFUL INFO FOR ALL PILOTS:
The BLM actually has a very good website with all the current TFR's on a quick loading map on it. Check out www.airspace.nifc.gov and put it in your favorites! You can also do flight planning if you click on the flightplanning link top left corner. This program is called "flightplanner" and is, in my mind, the best flightplanning website out there. It will also tell you if your path will get you near or through a TFR.
You need a password for some of this program, so to get it contact Ben Hinkle from the BLM at ben_hinkle@nifc.blm.gov and he will be more than happy to give it out to anybody who wants it, for free.
Check it out and try it, it really really really is worth it!!!
