We have a very special day coming up! On November 8th, 2001, we sat down at night and invented Chicken Wings on a paper towel. So we have a few special happenings lined up for the month of November!

And we’ll start with this one: Some of you may be familiar with the American One-Dollar Silver Coin, the Silver Eagle. Now we’re proud to present “The Silver Chicken”!!

Silver Chicken (10 year anniversary silver coin)

In the last years we have noticed that there is definitely a shortage of chicken and/or F4U Corsair coins out there. The Americans have the Eagle, the Chinese the Panda, the Australians the Kangaroo, the Canadians the Maple Leaf, the Somali the Elephant, and so on. You get the point. But no chickens!

So we decided to make our own, in order to do something special to commemorate the coming 10 year anniversary of Chicken Wings. We will use this coin as prize for more contests and events but you can also buy it online as a fun, special, and slightly different gift until our fourth book is ready.

The coins are made out of one ounze of pure silver and we have a very limited quantity minted at this time. And we will maintain a list on where these coins initially went to. A few of them we want to keep ourselves but you can have a limited amount. And the great thing about these coins is (as compared to challenge coins or other cheaper medaillions) that they will always be worth it’s weight in silver, so even your great-grandchildren will be able to inherit something of value, even if Chicken Wings ends up being forgotten by that time.

You can already get it HERE (US) and HERE (Europe), or maybe win it in one of the contests we have lined up this coming month!

“Please Wait To Be Seated!”

“Please Wait, to be seated” is the third book of the very succesful aviation cartoon collection put together by Martin Leeuwis. It’s now avaliable in both Chicken Online Shops. This time he found 30 artists from around the globe to contribute and it includes 9 pages of “Chicken Wings” as well. This will hopefully hold you guys over until our 4th book comes out! My favorite part about these collections is that they include a lot of the great aviation cartoons from Gary Clarks “The Swamp” featuring “Ding Duck”. I love that little guy almost as much as Chuck.

Also, we are coming up an a very round anniversary at the end of this year with Chuck and his friends. So keep an eye out for special offers in our online shop and for more contests inside our forum and other events, ok?!

Hi Guys!
For this post I want to share an email we received from Croatia. Apparently one of our followers had spotted Chuck walking to his Cessna!
We love getting mail like this! Here is the letter he wrote:

Mr. Strasser, hi!

My name is Boran, and I am from Zagreb, Croatia. I’ve been an
avid reader of your comic for quite awhile now – and, as a small token
of thanks for the fine work you and your brother are doing, I’ve
attached a slightly ironic, real-life Chickenwings photo for your
enjoyment :). With even the Skyhawk’s colors closely matching those of
your own drawn example, this photo – taken by me at Lucko airfield, just
outside Zagreb – shows just what you get when you have an airfield
surrounded by farmland!

Keep up the good work and many regards,

Boran

Thank you so much, Boran! Thanks for taking the time to write and to share this with us! Greetings to Croatia!

“SQUAWK 7700”

If you have ever thought of making airline flying your career or you are generally interested how the industry works I highly recommend this book.

It is not the classic “Chicken Wings style” humor book but rather a look backstage on what you are in for should you choose to fly for a living. This book is an eye-opener about how the business really works and Peter, who is personal friend of ours, is a driving force in making aviation a safer place. Embark on a journey with him and follow his career from dreaming about flying as a little boy all the way to flying for the airlines. You might get a slight “reality check” reading this book but we know many pilots who now wish they knew more about the industry before they started making their dream of flying the big planes come true.

The foreword was written by Jeff Skiles, who was the co-pilot on the Hudson Miracle landing of US Airways Flight 1649.
