ATP Schools?
« on: January 21, 2006, 05:01:17 AM »
Hey guys and gals.  I'm looking into the ATP schools and trying to decide if there a place where I might try to get my ratings.  I'm looking at them because I'm tired of lollygagging around and not geting any ratings finished.  I'd appreciate any insights anybody would have about the program.  Good or bad doesnt matter.  Thanks
WOW I did that!

Lollygagging... lol... ;D

So, is the reason you are not getting any rating finished a mater of money, lack of time... what's the main reason you feel your not getting done fast enough??

Could the reason be that you're carrying that big PPL book around but not actually opening it to read the less "pleasant" study sections i.e. the weather section?? ;) ;)

ok, but seriously...

I think if you want some real advice you should check out the AOPA forum.
Some of those guys are really helpful I found.
But it's not a funny forum like ours so COME BACK TO THE DARK SIDE AS SOON AS YOU CAN! you hear?

Sounds good I will check it out.  I have been reading the book and I've almost finished it, yeah!  And the big problem is weather and long breaks between consecutive lessons due to prior commitments.  And Mike I did fight my way through the weather section barely though.

a guy i know went to ATP in florida and got his CFI/CFII/MEI in 8 months. i'm going to do the same here, hopefully, within the next couple of months. yep, a 700+ hour commercial pilot is going to go back to school! a few years ago i went to American Liars, oops, i mean Flyers here in houston but you had to take the check-ride for the CFI with the FSDO and they tend to fail (or at the time they did) about 80% of the applicants. then a bunch of things started going wrong personally and i couldn't get back to finish up. but now, being unemployed as a xmas gift and selling some property as well as having some new found time on my hands, well, i think i'll go back and finish.

That's about par for most FSDO's, I think.  I know Fargo's is at least an 80% fail rate.  (Hope they don't read this)

blech. i know it's free and all but those 8 hours in a tiny room going over lesson plans is for the ducks!
i did look into ATP and i can finish up with my MEI as an initial then get my CFI/II as an add on with them for around 6 grand.
