Back to the waterskiing, I'm not saying it makes a bit of sense to me, but there are plenty of old guys around here who have done it without going swimming....   you might be surprised.

Don't make me come back there!!!!

It's a traditional supercub short field trick as well (don't think that was mentioned before?).

Waterski on the water as you approach a sand bar and drop airspeed.  Use the hydroplaning to hold you up as you lose lift and decrease the landing distance.

I've been told there's an excellent video of cubs doing trips like that availible at the pilot shops around here.

I'll bet it's a blast... wouldn't think there'd be much room for error though!

I'll bet the big tundra tires on such a light aircraft really help as well.

Anyway, time to go mudding again in the 1900.  We splattered the bird we took on monday really good!    :D

It's dried up a lot now :(   Still muddy enough to get all over *me* though!   :-[

But in a nose dragger??  ::eek::

I've talked to a couple guys around here who've done it.  Even one who used to water ski his c-180 on a regular basis.

It looks like fun to me but there ARE things you aren't supposed to say "look like fun" OUT LOUD.  You know...  all the things we secretly would love to do.  I mean, let's be honest.  I always wanted to fly under a bridge, for instance.  But..  NOPE.

Reason this came up, a buddy has a picture hanging on the wall of a group of guys skiing and the discussion was "Should we take down the picture before the new FAA guy comes over?"

HA HA.....    ::rofl::

Who said anything about a nosedragger?!?!?!  I'm just not a good swimmer -- if I wanted to play in the water, I would rather have FLOATS than rely on my skiing ability to keep me out of the drink.    ;D
