Here Soccermom, I'm gonna whet your appetite some more (and mine as well). Here's picture of my favourite non-military aircraft the DeHavilland-Canada Beaver. It just looks like the only plane that was made for floats. 2 other shots of me coming in for landing while showing the beauty of a Northern Ontario Fall day.

Here's a couple of pictures I took of my 1/24 scale model DHC Beaver. I did some photoshop to them by adding  them to some backgrounds.

Here's the Sabre which I made my model after. As you can see she's a little worse for wear. Hopefully she will get resurectted before it's too late.

WOW, wonderful photos!  You've poured gasoline on the fire!!   Grin

It's even more of an overload, to see those pretty fall colors as well as the sweet airplane.  You're making me think about a trip to Ontario come October!!   Grin

Pretty cool how you got your model to look "the part".  I hope it works out were you can do the rating sometime;  being on floats is sure its own delight.   Cheesy

You live there?  I see your profile thingie says Canada...  so, is it Ontario?   Cheesy

That's already one of my favorite places...  I have driven across the southern parts many, many times enroute from the western U.S. to northern New England.  I must say, it's always more pleasant entering CA than the US, but I am prejudiced, I grew up (okay, well, not hardly) on the Quebec border....  Canadians are always nice!!!!  At least in this ole Mom's life......

Got to work out of the fire center in western Ontario some years ago, too...  that was neat...  though we needed the local FISHING map to navigate with, there was SO MUCH HUGE country just full of lakes, and no navaids worth a hoot....  I think there was ONE NDB and it was busted when we were there...     Grin    Grin    Grin    Grin           It was great fun!!!!!!!!!!

(And, I could sure live ANYWHERE that has "The Beer Store" as a local feature...........  Cheesy )

Beer stores are nice aren't they Cheesy Cheesy

Yup I live in Ontario, well Southwestern Ontario. Rocky shores are about 4 - 6 hours north by car. I'm glad you like Canadians. We are nice people. Was your fire centre near Thunder Bay or Dryden?

There are alot of lakes that's for sure. One of the things about Canada is the abundance of lakes!

Come to Canada, we've got a lot of nature!!

We worked out of Dryden.  It was a fun time, and a pretty place, I seem to recall most places to eat were closed when we got off work (this was a while ago), but that was an even better excuse to drink beer.  (Like we needed THAT.)

Yes, Canadians are GREAT, I have always known that....    Wink

Maybe this fall I can make a trip, I would love to get into anything on floats and just have some fun.....  Thanks for the info!   Smiley

They'll show up for you!!   Grin

I have seen them across all the northern tier of states as well as Canada and Alaska...  one of my absolute, most-favorite things in the world, along with meteor showers and any wild storm clouds!

(Okay, I admit it, I'm a total weather nerd and wanted to be a weatherman when I was little.....)

 Grin     Grin      Grin     Grin

But, I haven't seen the southern lights yet....  one of these years, I hope to!!!!!!!!   Wink
