Holy heck, first I thought it was a planecrash then I read it was weather. Was anyone hurt? One of the planes looked like a 172 Aerobat (two windows in the roof).

No word on any injuries.  That's a few million dollars in aircraft though.  I see 2 seminoles and those run $400,000 apiece IIRC.

Roof windows are an option in 172s.  At least in old ones, I believe the new ones are the same way.  Don't remember ever hearing of a 172 aerobat.   Closest thing I've seen (and flown one for that matter) is the Cessna T-41, which does have jettisonable doors, but I don't think you are supposed to do aerobatics in it anyway.

Hahaha... I mean, ouch.

Sorry, but honestly, put a huge multi million dollar university in the middle of a region that has one of the, if not the highest rates of thunderstorms and horriable weather in the nation, and your asking for problems.  Another reason UND is better, oh wait, we have tornados, and hail the size of oranges there.....  Hmmm.....

Haha, not this year.  When I left nodak for home back on the 15th, we had about 4 inchs.  From what my friends tell me, currently we have no snow back there at all.  And it snowed here last night and the night before (Western Washington) and that rarely happens.

Yup, the snow here in Seattle a few weeks ago just shut the town down.  It took me almost four hours to get from Tacoma to Everett that monday.  People here cannot drive in snow.

I bet, I was watching the Seahawk game that night.  But yea, two nights ago we got dumped on up in the foothills (Buckley) we got like 5 inches.  I dont remember the last time we got this much snow in our area.

Ahhhh... Scenic Buckley.  Didn't they just get their power back after the windstorm two weeks ago?  I live in the lovely Port Orchard area.  Last dumping ground of the true White Trash before they get driven into Mason County.

I had heard about the news here in Switzerland too. I was going to ask you if it was your FTO Undatc, but I'm glad to know that it's not the case!  ::sweat::
I give that landing a 9 . . . on the Richter scale.

No it wasnt.  Embry Riddle is actually our biggest competition in the flight training world.  They run a pretty good program, but from what my friend tells me, he just left Embry Riddle to come to UND, is they they are very unfriendly towards students.  In that their cost is outrageous, something like 21k a year tuition plus flight training and living expenses in Daytona Beach FL, which isnt the cheapest place to live.  Also their system for checking out aircraft, and getting your licenses done is alao a pain in the rear.  They are going more towards professional pilot retraining/certifying than new pilot training now is what im told.

Haha, I know what you mean, we are a kinda of fliter for people from Carbonado and Wilkerson, keeping them from the outside world (if you dont know where these places are dont worry about it, you dont want to know, but just imagine Diliverence and you'll get the picture).  My high school was filled with true hicks and rednecks, not the kind of wanna bes you see with a cowboy hat and a nice set of carharts, the guys I grew up with you could smell two rooms away.

However one good thing did come outta my high school.  If you listen to country music at all you may know him, Blaine Larson.  I graduated with him, and hes doing pretty well right now in country music, has a few albums out, and has been touring with the 3 hats and a redhead tour.

And actually we've had power the entire time.  I fly in on the 15th and as I was pulling in the driveway, our lights came back on.

These places are starting to sound like my hometown.  Except no celebrities have come out of Ely, just a few of us lucky ones that got away from the mine and prison.  And we might be able to keep up with you guys on the rednecks and hicks.  Small world I guess.  The whole embyriddle thing put a tear to my eye. :'(  Seeing all those aircraft destroyed, even if I don't like the university as well.
WOW I did that!
