One day, I got an email mentioning a man by the name of Manuel Queiroz.  Apparently, he was making an attempt at the world-record time for circumnavigating the world in a light-class single.  Well, turns out one of the heads in my EAA chapter sent him an email promising topped-off gas tanks and food for stopping by our local airport.  He agreed!

I'm not trying to spam, but http://www.chasingthemorningsun.com/ is essentially his journal on the Internet.  It was great to start tracking his travel and countdown until we would have the chance to meet a gentleman making history.  I think he's one of less than 60 who have successfully completed this feet.

Brief post, but the website will tell you as much as I could tell you about him.  It was great actually getting to talk to him and shake his hand.  I didn't get great shots myself, but I did have my digital camera, and was able to capture his arrival, and fly-over of the runway.  (I'm sure he was a little annoyed when the tower asked if he was willing to make a quick fly-over after having flown for about 10 hours already.)

It was a really happy weekend for me.
