It came to me last night, if you remember back aways in the comic archives you'll get it.

The PIC and the A&P stood in the FBO office and discussed calling the AOPA about the TFR near KMYF.

The POI saw the PIC shoot the ILS after ATC gave TDZ RVR 1800 at ANC until the F/O called DH (as opposed to the MAP on a NP approach such as GPS) to HLD NW of TAGER INT at 2340 ft AGL and the S/O ensured MAP, EGT, and RPM stayed within limits.  Meanwhile, TWR advised CTR of the HLD.

The Primary Operations Inspector saw the Pilot In Command shoot the ILS ( type of approach) after Air Traffic Control gave TouchDown Zone Runway Visual Range 1800 (ft) at Anchorage (AK) until the First Officer (co pilot) called Decision Height (as opposed to the Missed Approach Point on a Non Precision approach such as a GPS (type of approach) to Hold NorthWest of TAGER INTersection (basically a point on a map) at 2340 Above ground Level and the Second Officer (Flight Engineer) ensured MAnifold Pressure, Exhaust Gas Temperature, and RPM (rotations of the engine per minute) stayed within limits.  Meanwhile, Tower advised Center (the ARTCC or Air Route Traffic Control Center) of the Hold.

I should have said MDA (Minimum Descent Altitude) instead of MAP as an ILS still has an MAP (which is where you go missed at).  I also should have added in ARTCC into the initial one.  ;)

I guess this poor VFR pilot will NEVER keep up with the IFR guys in the abbreviation department.  I think I'll retire to my PR in my POV.
The average pilot, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

POV can be a good one though.  ;)

Thank you.

Of course, using most every known abbreviation on a daily basis does help a bit.  ;)

Almost 30 hours in the past three days actually.  ;)

This reminds me of the books we used to have printed volume editions of here at Boeing in the areas that used to be McDonnell Douglas.  They published these softbound paper covered volumes of nothing but abbreviations and definitions for various uses in different projects so people could read a document, say for the AV-8B program, and understand it if you were on the F-15 team, etc. :)

I'll have to see if I can find one and post some of the stuff here.  It was amazing how they would come out with all these editions of just these compendiums... and project specific!

If you thought a TVN was a "Thrust Vectoring Nozzel" on an AV-8B, it could be ... but if it was on a F-15, it could have meant something like "Target Visualizer Node", or something along those lines.  Not exact definitions... just trying to give examples.

You know it's bad when you have volumes enough to be the size of several encylopeadic volumes  :)
We're going to have to come in pretty low!  It's just one of those things you have to do... when you land!  -- Ted Striker - Airplane!
