A few weeks ago, I found a serie on history channel (french version). It's probably already off air in History channel (english) but I think this worth mention here in case you can find it or if you would like to see some extract on
http://www.icepilots.com/.
This is a documentary on Buffalo air. They are flying DC3, DC4, and a bunch of other old airplane in the canadian north. I never had the chance to fly with them but I saw a few of thier DC3 landing on strips of ice while I worked in the north.
In yesterday episode, a guy had the chance to get his first ever payed flight time. This first hour of working as a pilot was: flying and landing a DC4 on a small ice runway . Man I'm jealous.
If you can't have the chance to see the whole serie, I recommand you go to their site and look at the episodes teasers. Good scenes of old machine still flying on extreme weather.
