Redding Air Service History
« on: March 11, 2010, 06:48:35 PM »
Some historic pictures... As most know, I work for Redding Air Service in California. The company was started by Burt Train in 1957. Unfortunately he passed back in 2005, but his company lives on. The company primarily is involved in the utility industry, and I was recently forwarded a photo from the USFS of Burt doing some of the first trials for bucket work. The Tail # is N988B, this number has since been transfered to one of our L4's.

Here are a bunch of pictures from the company history---some may recognise one of the landing spots---I recently posted a picture of me approaching the same spot in one of our L4's.

This is our hangar which is still there---we have added onto it though:

More to follow...

Here is one of our ongoing contracts---snow surveys for CA Dept. Of Water:

Same snow survey being done these days:

And the man himself--Burt Train shortly before he passed:

Thanks, G, for the great old photos.    ::bow::    I love looking at that stuff.

That's a lot of changes over the decades -- yet -- here you are, doing the same snow surveys!  Kinda cool.

Sure enjoyed these.  Thanks.

 :)
Don't make me come back there!!!!

awesome pics, buddy!

It's really cool to see all the stuff they did back then with that little 47. And check out Redding Airport back then, HA HA!! I totally recognize the hangar!

I bet there was less paperwork in 1967 as well.....

Very cool pics, is that Lassen in the back ground in the second to last pic I think?

Think that is Shasta... Lassen is just East of us, Shasta is just North and Whiskeytown and the Trinity mountains are just West of us...
