Skyaking: Skydiving with a Kayak
« on: March 06, 2010, 04:05:47 PM »
Anybody up to enjoying the blending of a recreational activity (Kayaking) with a rational activity (flying)?

That guy Miles is a friend of a friend of mine, though I've never met him.  I saw video of one of his early jumps in a kayak where he got stuck upside down in a spin and pulled out of the kayak... In the video, you last see the kayak as a tiny spec plummeting toward Hwy. 99 in Lodi, CA.  I guess it didn't hit anything, since I never heard about it on the news  ::loony::

These guys are really pushing boundaries, and keep paying the price with their lives - one of Miles' friends was Shane McConkey who died skiing off a cliff with a wing suit and a parachute...

It's funny, but I've always considered flying to be less rational than kayaking, but I suppose that's because I learned to kayak first...
