Let's see...Winds on Wednesday were gusting over 40 kts and this guy from central MN decided to bring his beautiful Maule on Baumann floats up here and land on 4-mile Bay near one of the lodges. I guess he actually got it on the water, but a gust picked up the right wing, dipped the left float and flipped him over. He got out ok and was picked up by a boat immediately. He refused medical attention from the EMT's. He was the only one on board.
So, they got it upright today, but bent the right wing struts and sort of collapsed the wing (it's a little droopy). It also lost some skin on that wing and banged up the horizontal stab. Other than that, it looks pretty good.

It's a little muddy inside, though.
The FAA was here today, and I think they'll be calling it an incident, considering the damage and the fact that no one was hurt. The pilot told the airport manager/mechanic that he decided to fly the Maule instead of his Bonanza.
