Need your input!
« on: October 29, 2008, 05:12:46 PM »
Hi guys!

We got a reader letter asking what the most common words or terms in aviation would be. Can you come up with ideas?

Here's the letter:

Thanks for the response Mike.  Here is my dilemma, I wanted to produce an annual magazine in my town and need to come up with a name.  So I was thinking what is the most common used lingo in aviation that everyone can recognize.  It can be a call sign , 100 burger, something that the civil aviation community can relate to.  Any feedback would be helpful.

Thanks,
Robert

Howz about "GA" . . . or "The American Flyer" (wait . . . this is too obvious . . . is there already a magazine with that name?)

I'm not familiar with magazine in English so some might already be used but my suggestions would be:

Airborne
Airspeed
AGL
Willco
Cavok
Flying
Foxtrot Lima Yankee

How about "The Traffic Pattern"?  Don't use "Left Traffic" or "Right Traffic" as many will think there is a political bent to that.

My personal favorite would be "Fair Skies".  That's something we all wish for on our flying days.   |:)\
