An Asterix and Obelix comic had a story where vikings came to learn fear because they heard that fear gives wings (this may be a scandinavian expression). Of course there is the little detail that the vikings visited a wee bit too early in history (they didn't come into history until the 9th century after christ and not before but hey, it's a comic
