No more oil dripping
« on: October 16, 2007, 11:08:17 AM »
At first I thought it was funny, but then I wondered if the oil leakage was ever repaired  ::eek::
Although then again, this is Julio the top mechanic/fix-it-guy, but then again he did remove evidence of an oil-leak at least one time hehe.

My father used to own a Cessna 195 which had a Jacobs radial engine for power.  Radials are notorious for leaking oil no matter how hard a mechanic works to tighten up everything.  An old friend of my father used to say, "If there ain't any oil leaking out of it, there ain't any oil in it!"

Maybe Chuck needs to check his oil more often...  Hehe

As the former owner of a variety of "British wonderful contraptions" from the 50s, I concur----BSA, Triumph, AJS, and Jaguar-----but you forgot to mention that they also were electrified by Lucas (prince of darkness)--which is also why Brits like warm beer (Lucas refrigerators ?) ::rofl::

Haha! You thought it was funny before you wondered if the leak was repaired?  ::rofl::
Maybe we should write somewhere that "Chuck and Julio are professionals. Don't try this at home!"  ;D

(Which, again, would be funny in itself... calling Chuck "professional")

Guys,
I gotta go with you on this one. Round engines are like dogs, Harleys,& Brit built motor anythings, they always mark their spot ! ;) That being said , you all remember Julio told Chuck to be nice to the new engine when he put it in the Cessna. ::whistle:: Methinks Chuck is the reason for the leaks. ::thinking:: Not to mention the managements' attitude toward buying new parts !  ::banghead:: Penny wise , & pound foolish . ( I know ,I know, I'm preaching to the choir.)

So true.

What I always thought was funny in real life was when somebody told me how little oil his Lycoming is using.
"I get almost 30hrs on a quart of oil! Isn't that awesome?!"
Cause even though they're not really supposed to be leaking, they are supposed to consume a quart at least every 10hrs.
If not we usually ended up replacing rings and cylinders.....
