Title: What a find
Post by: FlyboyGil on August 29, 2007, 10:57:47 PM
I don't know if this is true or not, but anywhat here's the story and the link to go with it.
A New Yorkman retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15yrs. the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway......so, nobody made an offer on the place. The New Yorkguy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn.......curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders.......and cut thru the welds. What was in the barn...............??? To find out, go here

There was another guy who had a massive collection. He put them all in conex boxes (those semi trailer size boxes that go on ships and attach to special trailers). Guy died and a neighbor eventually convinced the family to sell them to him, he was selling the cars off a few years ago. The guy had been worried about theives so he had dismantled a number of the cars and mixed the parts together for boxes around the edges so no one could easily steal a whole car. This story isn't one I heard about through e-mail. A guy was on a collector car forum selling the cars, or at least posting cars for sale anyway.

Sweeeeeeet collection. too bad the lighting wasn't a bit better in there. Still some really nice metal though. The snopes story sounds a bit more believeable. The only thing is, this guy has all these great cars but he does nothing with them... they're just collecting dust in some old building. Gotta at least take them out, polish them up, shoot, drive a different care every day of the year!

Just as you say... I dont know if this would be a deal of the century, or just a personal collection, but either way, it IS DAMN SINFUL to let them gather dust in there just like that...
