rich russian man amazed the american pilots that participate the russian air saloon (note:i probably translated it wrong, hte meaning is kind of an airshow) near moskva, when the man asked them to buy the b-52 bomber that they showed.
the russian newspaper "komsulaskaiya pravada" (probablu spelt it wrong) reported today (friday) that the man, wich wasnt said it name, wore a sunglasses and was escorted by some bodyguards asked the american delgation to buy the b-52,hte suprised pilots said its not for sale, but if it would be,it will cost at least 500 million dollars.
"that not a problem, its such an amazing machine" qouted the man by a russian reporter,at the end of the conversation the russian man had to leave the airshow with no bomber.
the article was translated from hebrew by me the original article-http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-3441523,00.html (http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-3441523,00.html)

Russians are able to do it. I suppose it was at MAKS airshow and the newspaper is Komsomolskaya Pravda.
I only want L-39, why is that a problem for me? :(

Excuse me, I'd like to buy your B-52 Fri Aug 24, 8:15 AM ET
MOSCOW (Reuters) - A wealthy Russian tried to buy a U.S. B-52 bomber from a group of shocked American pilots at an airshow near Moscow, a Russian newspaper reported Friday.
The unidentified Russian, wearing sunglasses and surrounded by bodyguards, approached the U.S. delegation and asked to buy the bomber, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper said.
An astounded member of the U.S. delegation said the bomber was not for sale but that it would cost at least $500 million if it were to be sold on the spot.
"That is no problem. It is such a cool machine," the Russian was quoted as saying by the newspaper, which said its reporter overheard the conversation. The bomber was not sold.
Russia's new rich, who built fantastic fortunes trading commodities and contacts after the fall of the Soviet Union, have made a name for themselves as ostentatious purchasers of everything from British football clubs to Faberge eggs.

Does anybody know how much an L-35 uses in fuel per hour??
Guess you mean L-39. She eats about 350 litres of jet fuel per hour.
Sounds correct. A friend of a friend of mine owns one and has quoted fuel burn of around 100 Gallons per hour, which would correcpond to 380 liters. Close enough for me to realize its WAAAAAAAYYY to rich for my budget unless I win a lottery!
Back to the Russian guy... Why would anyone (even someone who's super-rich) want to own such an expensive machine that would serve no useful purpose? Would it be just for bragging rights? I wonder how much vodka that fellow may have had before he approached the flight crew. Either way, I reckon I'll never understand how rich Russians think because I made a mistake and married a poor russian. ::loony::

That is rich Russian... joke says it all (note that it is of actuall Russian origin, and New Russian refers to such rich Russians)
"Look at my new tie," says a New Russian to his colleague. "I bought it for 500 dollars in the store over there." "You got yourself conned," says the other. "You could have paid twice as much for the same one just across the street!"

From what I can say, you have not made a mistake by marrying Russian at all. But tht might be because I know Russian and can choose more carefully :)

I always thought it would be fun to be part of a B-52 crew at an airshow, especially during the Cold War when there was always the possibility of ICBM warheads coming down on 20-30 minutes notice. Hang out mingling with the crowd answering questions, etc. have the entire crew wear pagers. Then have friends all call the pagers at the same time, have the crew all look at each other anxiously, and have the aircraft commander bellow "We have to leave... RIGHT NOW!" ::unbelieveable:: ::unbelieveable:: ::whistle:: ::silly:: ::loony:: ::loony:: ::rofl:: ::rofl:: ::rofl::
