Title: Yukon Quest International Sled dog Race!
Post by: tundra_flier on February 20, 2007, 07:52:16 PM
The Quest front runner is schedule to finish in just a couple hours. I'll be downtown to watch since I work only 2 blocks away. I was scheduled to work the Chena Hot Springs check point last night, but he got there an hour before my shift started, and left 3 hours after it ended (mandatory 8 hour layover there). Here's all the info for those not familiar. www.yukonquest.org
The rest of the mushers will be ariving over the rest of the week.

Going to be a cold week to finish... sounds like the front runner will only catch a short period of the cold spell but they say a week of possible 40 below temps... hopefully it'll just be 40 below downriver and warmer in Fairbanks.
You know, I have yet to see an actual dog team hooked up to a sled in person. I'll be at work by the time the finishing starts.

Looks like the second place finisher will be in later tonight. You might want to hang out at the Big I after work for the headlamp party. ::drinking::
