Title: Pilot Chick!
Post by: Aviation Freak on February 20, 2007, 12:45:19 PM
Well, I thought I might start this thread off. ;D  First off, I have a bad feeling Chuck will end up in the hospital.  And second, keep up the good work!

Since the it said the pilot didn't have a name yet, how about we think up of the many possibilities! ::thinking::

I say Linda or Christina.

I vote for Lucy. Following the precedent set by Mike with "Panaca Jane", we have just named our helicopter "Lucy". We are on a prescribed fire contract currently in Fort Payne, Alabama. Watch for more about the "adventures of Lucy.........

Mmmm and why not an Italian name? I suggest Alessandra (why? just 'cause it's my name in the female form :P ). The short-form Alex would be ok too

Thanks for getting it, Tundra!  ;)
I was afraid nobody would catch on and I thought it was a really clever joke my little bro made there. . . .

I can see a few strips out of the Lucy and Diamonds bit....

But, Charlie Brown already has a Lucy character and I'd probably stay clear of that if possible.....  :-\

Just don't let her hang a sign on the plane saying "Rides $0.05, the Pilot is IN" and you'll be fine.   ::cowboy::

Title: Naming conventions.
Post by: YawningMan on February 21, 2007, 06:08:42 PM
As far as pilot's names go, it HAS to be short and sweet!  Alessandra is a really pretty name, don't get me wrong, but it's got too many syllables!  Of course, that just means you'd always go by "Alex" at the airport, and no one would actually know your full name.   ::rofl::

Every pilot I know has a name that is 2 or fewer syllables, can have their name pronounced in 2 or fewer syllables, or has just been given a nickname, and no one knows what their actual name is.

Some of the pilot's I actually know the names of:
Chris
Aaron
Gray
"Tiny" (No idea what his real name is.)
Seymour
Rachel

And some of the famous pilot names:
*Patty Wagstaff
*Amelia Earhart (Most complicated name I know.)
*Bob Hoover
*Charles Lindbergh

Honestly, Lucy would be a winner.  If you'd really like to avoid that name, then I would suggest Chandelle.    ::thinking::  Yeah, that's a total cheeseball suggestion.   ::rofl:: Oh well.

I like lucy but........since chuck reminds about chuck yager (or I'm the only one who tought about it?  ???), probably amelia would be more right!

So this is the helicopter "Lucy" sitting in a field in the Smoky Mountains while waiting for a burn---which was cancelled due to weather...

I still vote "Lucy"........But I'm biased.

I like Tasha, reminds me of Denise Crosby from ST:TNG (Tasha Yar).

You could also try and find a name that rhymes with a famous airplane name to get some extra dumb jokes for Chuck (as if he needed help) :D
Edit: I just thought of something. If you can't decide then give her an identical twin with the other name, even more chances for Chuck to mess up :D Remember, identically looking twins don't necessarily behave the same way so one could be a pilot and the other something completely different.

Tasha, Iris, Zoe . . . all good names.

Nancy I like a lot as well.

Keep 'em coming!

We are still shying away from "Lucy" although the name is great and we could get some mileage out of the "Lucy/Diamond" joke. There is a lot of things you have to watch out for when selling comics all over the world. Lucy wouldn't only be the same name, but she also works in the same capacity as the Peanuts character. Think about it: smarter than some of the other girls, always giving the main character a hard time. AND don't forget the amarican sitcom "I love Lucy" . . .

Sorry, but this ignorant Mexican doesn´t know what a Yo-Saf-Bridge is (or means)

DonYan ??? ??? ??? But...You´ll be Sorry!

It's a Firefly reference... starting with 'Our Mrs Reynolds'.

Mal had been unwittingly married to this chick on a planet, and Jayne (mercenary guy) offered to trade his favorite rifle for her...
a rifle named Vera.

It plays on SciFi every once in a while, but I bought the series from Amazon.com.
It was poorly advertised, stuck in a bad time slot, and the episodes were run out of order. This
was when Fox ran it back in '02.
The movie Serenity was created from the pressure of us fans, and it made a bunch more money
in DVD sales, as kind of a cult thing.

Hmmmm....anyone else notice a striking similarity between the new pilot chick and Happy's avitar?   ::thinking::

Actually, that's not a coincidence. We were approached a bunch of times to create a character that complements the women in aviation, isn't a man-hating dyke, not "trying to hard"in "succeeding in a "mans"world", and not as dumb as Sally.

And Happy just happens to be a very cool "Pilot Chick" which we would want to see more of in this forumand in aviation. So, yes, The new girl is modeled some after Happy (among other things).

I am impressed you guys caught us!  ::bow::

Why not Nina? from nina williams of tekken?!? ;D
My Enciclopedical Ignorance needs to know:
A) ¿where is Tekken?
B) ¿Who is Nina Williams?
DonYan ::wave::
I'm not sure but I think Tekken is a fighting-game for the playstation game-consol, and as a sidenote then in the later years the female fighters have been some of the strongest/best fighters to choose in the fairly large collection of fighting games. I think Nina Williams is a character in the game but not sure, ever since Body Blows for the Amiga multimedia home-computer I haven't really played fighting-games much.

I didn't notice the part about Happy though, probably due to the pseudo-mohawk the yet-unnamed female pilot. So is the pilot to be named Danica and be swiss? Btw, what is a swiss accent? There are 4 languages in Switzerland and Happy actually mainly speaks italian not german as it's stereotypically thought the swiss do.

Btw, if you haven't chosen a plane for her yet then how about a Cardinal or Commander? Or if she's really specialized then how about a Porter?  ::angel:: |:)\

Doesn't really matter what she flies for a living.  I think she should have a little red Pitts of her own, just to show up Chuck with.   ::cowboy::
Imagine the airport where Chuck is admiring it and exponding on how difficult a Pitts is to fly, then she walks up, climbs in and asks Julio to prop it over for her.   ::whistle::

There's a gal here in AR who flies around in a Super Cub. She did her tailwheel training at the airport where I worked, and drove the line guys
nuts whenever she flew in. Yeah, petite and cute as a bucket of puppies, and how she loved those short takeoffs.
Gulfstreams and Legacys hell... everyone wanted to service the Super Cub with the hot pilot.
We also had a runner-up for Miss AR working as a flight instructor, and she never lacked for students. Management moved her over to
sales, as taking a demo flight in a Baron with a super-hottie might soften up the tire kickers a bit.

Mercedes....

Sounds like a exotic dancer I met a few weeks ago, I mean uh..... A good friend of mine.... Uh actually just an acquaintance.... I mean a friend knew her....

She needs a firecracker name, as she already is somewhat of that attitude.  Maybe Starburst or Bottle Rocket.  A sassy red head name would fit well, though names right now escape me...

Oh my god! Now my face is as red as the shirt of my avatar and of the new character! Mates, I did not expect either the new character to be drawn taking as example some of my avatar or to be the one to have to choose the name for the new chick, or – and last but not least – the compliments on your messages! So, first of all THANKS MATES! Kiss, kiss, kiss.  :-* :-* :-* :-*
And well, about the names…apart from my real name and my out of the forum nickname, that would both cause a lot of problem either because they would be read in several different ways and voiced in many different ways…or because actually I’m a quite shy person (even if it could not seem from the forum…) :) ::unbelieveable:: and my forum name since well, I actually have a sort of …penchant/weakness for pilots ;D ;D ::), that would surely contradict the “creepy creature” line…if it were to me to decide, I would go for Zoe, so that Velos’ daughter will have images not only of Chuck in her room, but also of a character named after her and it will be a kind of surprise/excitement to know that. But, actually, what I would suggest, is to make a poll and let us all decide…
