Well there is Pushing Tin (which isnt to bad though there is a lot wrong with the ATC side of it) and dont even mention Die Hard II, whoever was their aviation consultant for that movie should be shot. ::banghead:: ::rambo::

Haha yea, especially when i see "controllers" now. I'm more of a Hunt For Red October guy myself. Have you been to the underwater navel musem over by bangor? Its pretty cool, they have a lot of neat stuff over there.

Probably no movie, but there is/was a game for the palm, called ATC, in which the scope was to control an airport and all the mouvements of different aircraft. I had it and it was quite funny, give a try!
BTW, does anybody know how to repair a laptop's keyboard? I broke the I and if I put the small thing to push back in place it doesn't work.....

Oh no, it's much easier....it's just the external structure that broke. I mean, I do not have the "square" (is it called the key?!?) with the I on the keyboard anymore. that makes it harder to write, since it's not structured anymore to type and it's not flat and I have to put a lot of pressure in order to see it work, more that I'm used to with all the other letters. I tried to reattach the part, but it does not stay in place....and I keep getting stuck ::type::

Have I been there? Dude, I was on the USS Michigan at Subase Bangor from 1990 to 2005. ::loony:: Yeah, I've been there. (Not trying to be rudely sarcastic, just ironic.)

Haha, its a neat place. I dont know if they had it when you were there, but the submarine/torpedo that the Japanese used was kinda....creepy. I have a pic of me under the celest ( i think thats the name of that big white deep sea sub out in front) of me underneath it "holding" it up. I actually stumbled upon that place my mistake. My scout troop was going out to fort warden (its up in port townsend) and the hood canal bridge was open, and being that my dad works for WSDOT i was what the hell they never open this bridge, so i called him up and he told me the only reason they usually open it is for subs, and low and behold about 10 min later, a trident rolls by. Very aweinspiring, knowing that one boat had the power to level over 1/2 the world. I took some neat pics of it, however they arent digital :( So anyways, with the sub sighting, we decided to detour over there and have a peak at the base. If you get a chance, head into seattle. Down on the water front, around pier 49 or so, there is a big musume dedicated to sea vessels and shipping etc. They have a lot of neat stuff in there too. Also another cool place to go is down in Astoria Or. They have a musume down there about the columbia river and all the stuff that has happened with it. If you want info on either one, i can dig it up for ya.

Don't sweat the Trident pictures. I've got plenty. The submersible out front of Keyport is the Trieste II, you were on the right track. I loved standing out to sea past the bridge. All the people standing on it, waving at us. The only thing cooler (and in some instances, far eerier...) was pulling into Pearl Harbor and rendering honors to the USS Arizona. She's still the senior ship in the harbor.

As far as the pictures go, these were taken six years ago or so, and there's nothing classified in any of the pictures. Plus, the Michigan is undergoing a conversion to an SSGN, which means the MCC in the picture is no longer in existance.
The Detonators are only for the closure. The closure acts as a water-tight enclosure for the Trident C-4 missile below it. There are a series of Dets around the peremiter of the enclosure that will blow it free when we launch the bird. We were going through a degaussing period, and you can't have the dets installed when there is that much electromagnetic radiation around.

Ahh, so what did you do on them? My father was on the America CVN-66 for a long long time. He was like a controller for ships. Ploted courses, and tracked movement etc. He did several tours in the Med and the North Atlantic. He was over in the Indian Ocean once too.

It's either that or you've got a forty foot deep hole in the hull with only an 8 ton muzzle hatch for cover. Although the acess doors on the tube down below decks are water tight too. Sea states can be violent enough up in the bay of Alaska to actually move that damn hatch on occasion. But only a couple of millimeters.
