Title: Hmmm, could he use the plane again?
Post by: FlyboyGil on November 17, 2006, 03:49:19 AM
They say any landing in which you walk away from is a good landing, but how would you walk away from this one? I'd say this plane is "well hung" :o ;D :P

I'll bet the pilot was really WIRED after that landing!!! Shocking. More power to him! Hope he had an OUTLET for all his frustration. Must have been quite a SWITCH.
Well, I have to keep PLUGGING along here...

This is why you don't try to make emergency landings on roads. The plane probably needed pretty extensive repairs. Wires cut into an aluminum skin pretty badly, which is the main reason it didn't fall to the ground too.

ROFL, are you trying to set a record or something? :D I must say though that I can't fathom how a plane could land there without cutting the wires or breaking the posts? But most importantly: Was anyone hurt?

actually that plane was landing at an airport...... Boeing King County in Seattle. on final he hit wake turbulence and it bounced him off centerline into the wires about 300 yards from the tower. the pilot was fine and the plane had relatively little damage.

heh, a Master CFI friend of mine has an aversion to Convairs....he caught a wake turbulence in a 152 off of one once and did some unplanned aerobatics :P
In Kenai, where I learned to fly, the C-130's spend a lot of time shooting touch and goes. I learned early on to be wary of wake turbulence ;D

I hear that even a 1900 gets close to being knocked out of the sky by convairs...

There is a bar here in Bremerton, where the owner is friends with the pilot of that aircraft. He's got the prop from that cessna prominently mounted on the wall, right next to his wall mounted Wright Cyclone, and the Packard Merlin on an engine rack. Oh yeah, the owner (who's name I cannot remember) was involved with a P-51 air racing team. I'll find out next time I'm in there.
The incident was all over the news up here when it happened. I wonder how much he got CHARGED for getting it down. He was probably pretty AMPed.

ROFL what are you guys related to the Energizer Bunny? (btw, that's also a bit on topic isn't it lol ).
This is like those threads at other forums: The one who gets the last word wins. The one at Racerplanet is over 4 years old and has no less than, hang on (there's another joke on the topic lol), 3694 replies, last one was yesterday I think.

I myself was ELECTRIFIED to see you punsters having such a good time with your BATTERY of comments.
As far as anyone here being a last word freak with these ACID retorts, well, I'll DISCHARGE that judgement to someone who's PLATE has more room than mine and who's POLARITY is neither POSITIVE nor NEGATIVE so we can determine the SPECIFIC GRAVITY of the situation.
Personally, I think the remarks GENERATED here have been fun! ;D

All right, you win. Now I have to go put some more ELECTROLYTEs back into my body.

That's what you get trying to buzz the tower without wiring ahead - it creates tension, a pressure to perform and a shocking degree of disregard for safety. Eventually the pilot is grounded with no outlet for their high energy antics. I currently see no way to transform the minuses to pluses in any event ... ah, a light bulb lit above my head - we will direct the current crop to alternating fields by magnetic course and rectify the situation before someone blows a fuse.

Rolls on the floor laughing out loud! What're you trying to set a record? :D |:)\ If only the end of the Pixar-movie Monsters Inc. could be made real then the laugher from this thread could solve our energey problems for a good while!

This picture has created quite a buzz. At least it's not as reVOLTing as some of the ELECTRIC-mail that is WIRED to me. I try to post CURRENT pictures, that I find would create a SPARK of discussion. I find that if I HANG around my computer all day, I'll find something that will ELECTRIFY everyone's sense of conversation (if that makes any sense at all). But I'm happy about all the ENERGY that this conversatiion piece has JOLTED out of everyone! :P

Not to DISCONNECT myself from this CORE of this discussion, but to TRANSFORM it back to it's PRIMARY topic, - overhead power lines have a very strong, solid steel core, and are strung at tremendous tension. They will easily slice through aircraft sheet metal before breaking. On a different PHASE, I wonder how much resistance the typical Cessna has?
OK, now you can feel free to ALTERNATE back and forth to any SECONDARY topics you choose. It's been STIMULATING so far.

Incredible, but the pilot walked away alone, so it must have been a good landing!!
emergency landing on a german highway...... ??? ???
***LATEST NEWS REGARDING THIS CRASH*** Investigators found out, that the pilot forgot his credit card. So he just added the fuel he could pay in cash.... obviousely it wasn't enough to reach the next airport... clever man |:)\ OK, for all the girls in here: YES, it's a man ;D

mmm probably walked away.
UND had a similar occurance about 10 years ago so im told...
A student was trying to impress his girl friend and took out one of our old katana's. He took it down low over the red river right through the middle of town, and as he started to climb out, he didnt notice a 3 inch cable running across the river where the old rail road bridge was. Sliced the top of his tail off. He made it back to the airport, about 5 miles west and landed it. The FAA yanked all of his ratings, I believe he was about to get his CFI too... :-[

Well hellsbells, That just proves them FA&A boys got no sense of humor anymore! Actually, the guy was lucky and I hope, if he really loves aviation, that he'll return to it---some folks just need a second chance :)

There's a DE out in Montana that used to do all kinds of crazy stuff (flew pattern upside down, etc.), and after getting all of his tickets yanked twice, they decided he could do less damage as a DE.

It's a bit like Maverick becoming a Top Gun instructor after all those unauthorized tower flybys. In the words of Stinger, "God help us!"
