Good strip guys |:)\ I'm afraid there's a bit of Walter Mitty (you young folks might have to google that to understand) in each of us so while we laugh at Chuck's secretive dismay there are many who share his lament ::) Most pilots are dreamers anyway.

I have a friend who is in the US Navy right now. Just missed being able to go after a Tomcat slot...
She ended up going to rotary wing and her winging ceremony is set for next month. I'm doing my best to go outside and be there. :)
But yes, great strip. Hits a little close to home though. ;)

I've seen a tomcat up close an personal at Tillamook. I've been in love with them since "Top Gun" came out. One of only two aircraft my wife can sucessfully ID (the other is the C-130 which she thinks is cool). When I was a CAP Cadet in the '80s I got to go up in a KC-135 and we refueld a bunch of A-10s...and I was still jelous of the other cadets on the KC-10 that refueled F-14s in the Gulf of Alaska.....

Bara: congrats with your friend's wings, hope things will go good :) I didn't know there were female tomcat pilots but then again I don't hear much about any military pilots so that might be why. The closest I've seen was the muscle-dudette in that episode of JAG that freaked Harm out (a series that like an episode of MacGyver also used Top Gun scenes). I do remember the pictures shown in another thread of the surviving pilot of the remains of a shot-to-pieces A-10 that landed safely looked sort-of female but that's an A-10 and performance wise that's a fair bit from a Tomcat, but then again there's still a lot of up-close action for a A-10 so no disrespect there!
At least you guys have seen the real thing, I never have and most likely never will, but then again I'd probably not be able to stand the noise, but then again again maybe inside the cockpit in the RIO seat would be quieter, and maybe some ear-plugs could work if I'd get a chance to see going Mach-1 at sea-level :D I'd take such a dash over a Blue Angels ride any day, but I'm just dreaming, and still mad at myself for throwing out that big GI Joe Tomcat model out I had as a child.
