A Coast Guard helicopter returning to the east coast from the Olympics in Vancouver crashed in high country in Utah. Pretty amazing.. all aboard survived the crash... thank their lucky stars! I wonder why they chose to fly into the highest country around, though...? MEFs there range from 12,600 to 13,900 MSL.... ::thinking:: http://www.fox13now.com/news/kstu-coast-guard-helicopter-crashes-in-summit,0,5323893.story (http://www.fox13now.com/news/kstu-coast-guard-helicopter-crashes-in-summit,0,5323893.story)
Pretty amazing.. all aboard survived the crash... thank their lucky stars! It's a JayHawk thing. One have to be in a really bad situation to not survive a crash in a S-70, those were designed to standards, that are just now entering civilian aviation. The Hawk is Chuck-certified ;)I wonder why they chose to fly into the highest country around, though...? MEFs there range from 12,600 to 13,900 MSL.... ::thinking:: If it really was a CFIT, then that's the real question, second - how much flight time, does USCG crews get flying in mountainous terrain ?
The Hawk is Chuck-certified Wink What... a rubber helicopter? |:)\
