Title: badges
Post by: Roland on May 17, 2006, 07:06:26 PM
Do you gals and guys wear/have badges? If yes, why and where? If not, why not?
I know people collecting all sorts of badges. Some are really hysterical about badges and some would never ever wear any badge.
In the army aviation we have badges on our flight suits. The badge of the wing of course. |:)\ And I was very proud as I was allowed (!) to wear mine. It showed you are a member of the “club”.
How about you??? ;D

Most jobs with security access require badges (line guys, airline pilots, etc.)

Require badges? :o
There one can see the home of badges culture. In Europe it is not such a hype. :-\
I like badges and still have some on my helmet bag. In my younger days I had all sorts of aviation-badges on my jackets. My favourite on comes from the States, it’s the one of the First Cavalry Division. Today I have two of them on my saddle-blanket, the place where they belong to. It looks absolutely cool on that black blanket and many people ask me, where it comes from. The former Austrian-Hungarian Cavalry never had such a good looking badge. ::)

Had a friend who flew Hueys in Nam in the 1st Cav-------------Gives me goosebumps to see the badge again---ah, the memories. I pray for the soldiers trying to establish peace worldwide, their job is thankless, for the most part.

I have a helmet bag with a side full of badges (even if I don´t get to wear a helmet, it looks cool) I've had it for a couple of years now, and I have in it a couple of badges I worn during my soldier time. most visible of which is my country's flag and the badge of the military institute I graduated from. I don't have any badge right now though

Oh, that kind of badge. :) I get it.
I was referring to ID badges. Most big airports with secured gates require employees to wear them at all time.

BLAZING SADDLES---- I hang my head in shame :-[
I was thinking of the scene in Up In Smoke where the cop asked Cheech for his license and Cheech replied with "license, OH YEAH, it's on the back bomper, man" ;D

If I understand that right, they already have 2 SEATS and one helicopter in Panaca and they are thinking of adding an air-attack. Could this be you?! If it is, you will certainly get a "Panaca Jane" decal. It would look pretty cool on a Skymaster anyways. I don't think Mike would mind, do you?! You deserve one anyways since you "served" with Jane in WMC.... ;D
Do you know already where you'll be this summer??

The A.S.S hasn't helped the situation but my take on our cancelation were just Great Basin cost cuts---There were other AA companies got cut too-- I'm gonna wait and see.

Well thanks Chuckar, hope to swing by Panaca on party night so we can celebrate at the local saloon----BWAAAHAHAHA ;D I know, I know, a really hot party night in Panaca is when some guy's 5 wives all paint their toenails the same color and he doesn't remember whether the one he slept with was his daughter or his sister!

As soon as I had my ppl license I took a jeans jacket and put on some patrouille suisse badges. But, actually, I feel quite embrassed about going to the airport with the jacket on....looks a little bit like "top gun addicted" or well, you know.......a little bit too much. I resolved on wearing the jacket when I'm not flying!

:-\ Know what you mean, one of my sons gave me an expensive goatskin flying jacket adorned with all kinds of patches and wings which if I wear it to the airport will surely draw strange comments so I only wear it on low profile non aviation occasions ;)

I see the point. I also received the CPT strips, but they rest in a box, history over. But, on the contrary, the jacket was a super thing when I had to do some oral exams at university. I went there with the jacket and it was quite usual to get the question "are you pilot?". And you know, you start chatting about flight and time goes by and there is just a little left for thougher law questions!! Good thing let the profs bet and lose large quantities of time!! :) :)

Flying offshore and other commercial duties our pilots (captains) were supposed to wear the four stripes. The Indian pilots had an attitude to be very proud of being a Captain. Some even introduced themselves with: “My name is Captain ...”
We also had a bar in the staff-house, ran by engineers. So there was the rule: no four stripes at the bar. A Captain had time to remove the stripes before ordering the first drink. If he ordered with the stripes on, there was the rule he had to pay a drink for everybody at the bar. You may consider in such a case all of us ordered the most expensive drink. ;D
So with this we could educate all “Captains” on the spot because strangely enough those “Captains” are very greedy too. ;)
