Title: hiller training
Post by: Plthijnx on June 17, 2009, 08:12:03 PM
well i finally did it. i've officially made the move to the dark side. after 750ish hours in stuck wing i finally started taking lessons for sling wing in a hiller UH12B. it was way cool! hovering wasn't as difficult as i thought! we did several trips around the pattern with several auto-rotations one straight in and 3 180 autos. i can't wait to complete my training but boy-howdy is it expensive! my goal is to have my commercial ticket by xmas! mike, i remember you telling me about those "bad habits" several years ago and yeah, pushing foward is a little different for us stuck wing pilots! but i'm glad i finally made the step and started my training! ;D

Good for you!

Welcome to the Dark Side!  ::wave::

How are you financing the whole thing? Did you take out a loan? Are you working again?

no job as yet. in engineering at least. i'm working temp here at the airport logging time for my a&p so i'm keeping busy here with that. a friend owns a construction company that i'll work for as well. i also have an events gig working security too. but i also cashed in a 401k to keep me going. that'll suck come next april but ya gotta do what ya gotta do! when i do get an electrical design job again then i'll really attack the hiller but for now i'm just going to grab stick time by working for it here.

Way cool Hijnx,

I fly almost anything I can get away with.

Autorotations are really neat.  Except trying to not flair too soon.

Keep cool and keep out of your downwash!
