Title: Helicopter down.
Post by: BrianGMFS on June 05, 2009, 04:18:15 PM
As of 12:10 PM EST, I'm hearing a reportedly fatal Helicopter crash near my local airport, Knapp State (KMPV) I'm in a bad spot to hear anything but the State Police Dispatcher on the scanner.

The only helicopter based at Knapp is a homebuilt Rotorway Exec. There are the occasional transient birds including Guard Blackhawks and others. I'll post details as I get them.

Latest is the aircraft was on fire upon arrival of the first emergency unit. No idea of the aircraft type. Reported to be near Comstock road at the end of Runway 35

Local Radio station is reporting that it was a small two seater that "Just fell out of the sky". Sounds kinda like the Rotorway...

From the reports on the local TV News. It was the aircraft I thought it was, the Exec based at Knapp. I didn't know the pilot but I have seen it flying around the last year or so.
