Title: Monthly Calendar
Post by: G-man on November 20, 2008, 03:54:44 AM
So I have produced desktop calendars for the people I work with. I have adapted them for CW, at NO cost to Mike I might add--It will cost him copious amounts of Martoonis when we do Bell training in January. I will be doing this on a monthly basis, so if any one has images that might be good to use then feel free to e-mail me. I already have Decembers made but will save it for a week or so.

Here are the preview pics---you will either need the wide-screen version or the regular size depending upon you computer screen. Below the preview images are instructions and links to the full size images. November is LaFawnduh and yours truly having a blivet hooked to our belly by Ian of the CT Helitack outside of Salt Lake City.

You're welcome--Martoonis gladly accepted.  ::whistle:: ::whistle:: ::whistle:: ::drinking:: ::drinking:: ::drinking::

Hmmm, G-Man, now you have me thinking...

I have a few more pictures, but....  I'm not sure if I dare send them to you or not.  They've been rated over the years as 'VERY HIGH' on the "OMG, what a stupid moron!  She needs medication!" scale....   ::thinking::

Of course, they're already hanging in half the tanker bases in the country, so....  Hmmm....   ::thinking::

Yes yes yes. That is exactly what I want. The idea is to have a new picture each month submitted by the forum readers---preferably related to their work---ie not just a stock picture.

I need a large file---preferably at least 1600 x 1200--if not I can try to work with it.

The best pictures do have empty space on them--like under wings etc for people to still leave their icons on the screen.

Gimme your best.. You are in the drivers seat for January 09 image.

Oh COOL!   ::bow::  Your pics are great -- the flying looks like fun!  Are you roasting there -- is it hot out?

That's cool you get to take your trusty PC into some short strips...  sure looks like an interesting time!   :)

Gee SoccerMommy, you're the one who throws grown men out of her airplane over raging wildfires and you think I'm having an interesting time!?!?  Methinks it is a difference of perspective...   ::thinking::

Yes it is hot here, and I am roasting when I'm out of the Hotel.  It is nearly summer in the Southern Hemisphere, and daytime highs range from 37-44C, which is nearly as hot as where I used to live in the Sonora Desert.    ::sweat::  The airplane's A/C is out, so we don't cool down until we're over 10,000 feet up for 20 minutes or more.   ::sweat::  ::sweat:: ::sweat::

More than happy to share the pics with everyone.   |:)\

I agree with Gilly!  Awesome idea!  I finally decided to use this as my desktop background.

Say SoccerMommy?  Is that peak in the background Guadalupe Peak on the Texas/New Mexico border, or is it another peak?

Nope, that is the view from the ramp (AND runway) at Grand Junction, Colorado...  I believe the mountain with the cool profile is Mount Garfield...

It's always fun to come in from the north and drop off the edge of that steep drop-off of the Bookcliffs....  the guys who are still sleeping at that point are now awake for landing...  heh heh...   :o

Ah that answers my question. Mount Garfield!? Hmmmm, I'm sure there's a great cat-joke to be made about that but I can't come up with one atm.

My mom did say Colorado was fantastic looking, I really should get around to looking at those slides again.

Not an option. We would all get aboard our favorite aircraft, find out where you guys are hidden (or wherever you are during your vacation) and use all we can to make sure a new strip is issued.

I see helicopters droping firefighters in your background, immediately starting to cut trees. Others with slings taking out everything loose around your house while some rc airplanes keep you away, fighter jet making so much noise you can't call for help. Small airplanes flying with banners to invite all your neighbors to a party with free beer at your house,...

Thanks RC for the reminder. I did have some pictures sent to me for this month, but we were in need of a "helicopter" version again. In the absence of a high quality picture of Mikes new ride--I put this one of LaFawnduh up. This is from her pre-rapelling days as she still has the long step bar installed. This is flying over Shasta Dam.

Oooops missed a question---Last months entry was from the USFS.

On to this month--this is one of Milke's "other" helicopters on a repeater mission to the "Old maid repeater" in Southern California.

Man, where does the time disappear to?  We're at the end of another month, G-Man.  What do you have in store for us for an August Screen Saver?  I'm just hoping to see one of my entries used...  hehe.   ;)

I did one for August already, (using another helicopter...). I will use the one from Taos, NM next month---unless you have a better one???

Awesome, G-Man!  Thank you Thank you!!!   ::bow:: ::bow:: ::bow:: ::bow:: ::bow::

This was taken at a private strip near Vizcaino, Baja California.  The owner of the airstrip had a big Tomato farm there, and I received permission to take some of the race team into there to go pre-run the 2007 Baja 1000 race.

Yanno, I do miss that old Platypus.  :'(   I had some awesome times flying it.

<Nudging Gman awake>

Yanno... I thought about reminding my friend about his duty to continue to produe such lovely screen-savers, but then I started to get busy in my contract work...  THANK GOD!!!

We have all been busy with the holiday season upon us, but I would like to publicly ask the G-Man to please prepare another screen saver for us die-hard fans for the month of January.  I love seeing what ya do with a good image, Gordy!   ::bow::

When I get a chance to edit my pics, I'll start sending more good photography work from where I am working.  In the meantime, Merry Christmas to one and all...   |:)\ ::bow::

Thanks for the kudos---I was doing the flying...the picture credit goes to Mike Birdsill, Chief Engineer if Northstate Public Radio. I had dropped him and a team off earlier in the day to repair their antenna on Shasta Bally--he took this picture as I came in to pick them up.
