so how come in Airplane the plane is jet turbine powered but the sound is from a piston engined aircraft? ::unbelieveable:: ::eek:: ::loony:: ::complaining:

The brothers answered that in the commentator audio on the DVD. They originally wanted it be aboard a prop liner, but the movie company wanted a jet, but the brothers still used the sound from a propeller plane, which of course added to the humour.

Same reason EVERY aircraft in films and on an telly give a Stuka shriek when diving, of course! ;D

Sort of like the sound a Piper Cub makes after one of it's three engines sputters and the wings begin fluttering (we ALL know a crash is eminent when THAT happens) ::loony::
