Title: Vulcan XH558 flies again Oct 18 2007
Post by: Frank N. O. on October 20, 2007, 06:08:40 PM
Since some thought I've forsaken this forum then I thought I could use this as pennance :D It's a whiny jet, but what a jet, and what a roar, and what a short take-off run too! Man that thing looks wonderfully sci-fi'ish and futuristic. Sadly this is the only of the remaining airframes that place that can be restored, the others are too decayed. But hey "A plane in the air is worth ten on the ground." (ok I just made that up, maybe it's not that accurate).

As one pilot of ours said, would it be taking off in Bratislava, it would surely break the limits in Vienna ::rofl::
great plane, I myself dream to be able in future to get to fly something like this, the only left flying beauty of its kind, that is. |:)\

frank there are two Vulcans here in Britain that can still do fast taxi runs and get the nose wheel off the ground they where used as procedure trainers for the crew on XH558 but one is down for a while for overhaul if you can get a magazine called fly past it has a special suplement about the vulcan and features every surviving vulcan unfotunatly one is about to be broken up based with BAe which is a shame
