Stupid glass board

I wonder if there ever was one distinct guy in the history of mankind, who was the first to come up with the concept of following the rules by their letter and not in the spirit of their intended purpose. If so, that person probably was the first lawyer. In any case, we would have to thank him for indirectly being responsible for all our laws being about twenty times as extensive as we’d really need!

    By the way, the English legal system is based upon a “by the letter” rule as opposed to the French legal system that is based upon a “by the spirit of the intended purposed” rule.
    Now, you better understand why so many lawsuit and wealthy lawers in Englidh countries!

    Bah! Franglais! The French don’t need such a word anyway, they play fairly by nature and by education (mostly).

    If and when the French go wrong, (as they will, now and then, just like everybody and like every nation) they do so with zeal and conviction and even a bit of flair – making them only more ridiculous in these rare cases. The Dreyfus case _was_ particularly deplorable, but I’ll avoid further discussion. This place was meant to be funny, after all.
