Another pizza

Ah, the convenience of ordering food. We truly live in wondrous times. Just think about the food variety that was available only 50 years ago and compare it to today. 50 years ago, even pizza was considered exotic. And I remember well the times when the first Chinese restaurant opened in our little town. Or the first time I ate sushi, many years later. Today, all that and more is available at the click of the button in an app on your smartphone. Unlimited variety, 24/7, with nothing ever being out of season. Amazing.

And yet, it is another thing we already take for granted and rely upon without giving it a second thought. I wonder sometimes how many people would starve within the first three days of a catastrophe of some sort, because they don’t even have a tiny bit of food stacked away in their homes. I hope we’ll never see that day! Boy, I really went off on a tangent from the content of the strip again, haha.

Nice work, Julio! Chuck had it coming! Operating any machine whilst distracted, especially an aircraft, is simply insane. Very poor risk-management.

(Does this strip also get the elite tag, “Chuck, Is That You?” even though the words are not in that exact order? Those are my favorite strips!)

Actually, as long as Chuck is VFR that cell phone is perfectly legal…

@joshua: no it isn’t. Nothing to do with the rules of air but with the core of télécommunications. Even if you filed no paperwork for that, you have a licence to use a radio transmitting device and your cellphone is exactly that. And in the case of cellphones, that licence explicitely prohibits use in the air. The reason is that with little xmit power your signal can propagate very far when in altitude, and since frequencies are shared among cells, Chuck call with the nearest cell probably jammed communications with dozens of other remote cells in the country around.

@Fbs: so it is against the rules…

But I cannot find any record of a pilot being sanctioned in any way for violating the rule.

Ahh, Chuck and Julio at their best: engaged in a little lateral thinking while actually flying straight and level….

Great strip! And as more often than not, made me review the regulations regarding the subject 🙂
