I’m a rather frugal person. But being frugal doesn’t mean to always go for the cheapest option. Quite to the contrary, usually it makes sense to spend the extra buck on a quality product that will last a lifetime. That doesn’t mean you always have the budget for that though. When I started out living on my own, I got myself as complete a set of tools as I could, which was only possible by going for the cheapest version of each. Now I slowly replace them with quality tools, and I really learned to appreciate the difference that quality makes! Unlike Chuck, or my brother, I always buy cheap sunglasses though. But that’s because I ineviatbly lose or scratch or sit on them within a few weeks. If I was a pilot, I’m sure I’d also get some quality sunglasses.
Like I mentioned on Tuesday, we will be signing a few books and conducting a little meet-and-greet at the Vedalo HD Sunglasses booth. I am already here in Dallas! Where are you guys? (Just kidding, I got here early for classes)
Come stop by at the booth and meet Ed, the Vedalo guy. Ed is a really nice guy, a helicopter pilot as well, and he loves to talk about flying. He’ll be there throughout the whole show. Come check out his aviator sunglasses and say Hi!
Chuck wears Vedalo’s! Oh and the Blue Angels also! (not sure who’s more famous, HA HA
)
I’ll be ducking in and out due to other arrangements and jobs (heh, heh … ‘ducking’) but please ask Ed about the times I will be at the booth. I am always excited to meet all of you!
For a guy who can barely tie his own shoes I am amazed how Chuck always has those technical details of his gadgets memorized…
Who is all going to HAI this weekend / next week?
“Chicken Wings” is teaming up with “Vedalo HD” sunglasses at the International Helicopter Convention in Dallas! I will be stopping by at the “Vedalo HD” booth througout the show to meet with you and sign books if you want. Please check at the booth for the exact times since my schedule at HAI is always really full.
But come stop by and meet with me! As always, I am really stoked about meeting everybody!
Having a reference in a strip about Chuck never taking off his sunglasses is always fun for us. But this strip is mainly about the “Cessna Diamond” as we call it in aviation. Everybody I know who has ever worked around those Cessna high-wing planes, especially the 152’s and 172’s has had one at one time or another. And man, it hurts!
Problem solved! At least now Chuck can walk around freely and look for his real sunglasses. Hm… I just had a great merchandising idea. Maybe we should start selling “Original Chuck Sunglasses” in our shops. We’d certainly make the world a cooler place!
This strip should satisfy all those of you who asked for a strip with Chuck without his sunglasses! Poor guy, I really sympathize with him here. I know there’s days when I myself would like to hide in the parts room. That’s the beauty of my job though. When I don’t feel social or have a bad nose hair day or something, I can just stay in my little office and draw chickens.
The most common side effect of my sunglasses is that I scratch them or lose them, most of the time both. So I never spend more than ten bucks on them. Maybe the reason I never pay attention and always scratch or lose them is that I never spend more than ten bucks on them! Hm, makes you think!
