I’m sure this one strikes close to home not only with mechanics, but with everybody who has a well-sorted toolbox and any kind of spouse, friend or roommate living under the same roof. More than once have I searched for a certain tool, and finally given up, thinking that I must have put it somewhere stupid (my basement is a mess, and if you put a tool in the wrong place, it blends in the chaos and disappears like the Predator). But sometimes, a certain person who shall remain nameless, sneaks off a tool, e.g. my combination pliers, to fix my wife’s broken earrings, and forgets to bring it back. It may or may not have been a situation like that, that inspired today’s comic strip!
Careful what you wish for! I know I would really like to listen in to what other people are talking behind my back. Although I assume that in 99% of all cases I wouldn’t make an interesting enough subject and they’d probably talk about something completely different. And with some people I know, I’m probbably better off not knowing what their true opinions are.
Although the worst of this year’s winter seems to be behind us, we just had snow here again yesterday. Also the ski world cup is in full swing (which is held in Austria this year, by the way). So winter is not over yet! Personally, I like the end of winter better, because even if it’s cold and snowy, it’s not as dark as in December.
That kinda reminds me of our childhood. I think we watched Top Gun at least a dozen times back then, and when we were playing outside with the other kids from the block, we used to ride our bicycles and pretend they were fighter jets. We even drew an aircraft carrier deck on a backstreet with chalk, where we would take off and land… Good times!
Actually, a lot of problems *do* go away if you wait a little while. I use this tactic sometimes in real life, although it takes some kind of discernment to tell the appropriate cases from the inappropriate ones.
If you somehow managed to not hear anything about our new shops yet, please check out our blog below!
Well, there’s nothing much new going on here right now either, except maybe that Mike has been busy adding new products to our US Online Shop, notably Vedalo sunglasses and books. We’ll start promoting these in earnest soon. Also, our 10 year anniversary is coming up soon, so stay tuned for some special activity!
This is another one of my personal favorites. The artwork is great and the glider looks like you can step in and fly away. But the ending in this one is something we haven’t done before. We wanted to lead up to a certain obvious punch line and then end with something that makes absolutely no sense. Or does it?
Maybe our heroes are deeper than we think. HA HA, yeah, right.
Also, I have finally started to post pictures from my adventures in Oshkosh! Check them out in the forum under “Oshkosh 2011”. And join us in the forum if you haven’t yet. We always love to see new faces!
Mike is off to Oshkosh today. I’m looking forward to his tales!
I’m quite busy here holding down the fort and working on commissions. Not Chicken Wings related, but hey, a man’s got to eat. Have fun y’alls in Wisconsin!!
Well, well, I wonder if we get any hatemail about “demeaning pilots” with this strip! Or maybe feminist hatemail. That’d be a first! Although many a woman has commented privately that they think Sally is quite the sexist stereotype. (Well, then you try drawing a chicken that’s easily recognized as female). You’d be surprised about what goes on behind the scenes here sometimes. We’ve been thinking about creating a section with all the feedback that just makes you go “whu..?!?” here, but haven’t yet gotten around to it. (One more item for the never ending “nice to have” to-do-list).
A little slapstick here and there never hurt anybody . . . . except in this case . . . poor Ray.
Btw, this strip is pretty old. Look how different Julio looked back then!
