So it seems Chuck might go with the Pappy Boyington paint scheme after all. Well, I guess we will have to wait until he can wrench himself away from the TV screen before any new steps are taken. And who knows how long that will take! How many seasons of Baa Baa Black Sheep have been produced? Does anyone know?
Chuck sure has his priorities straight. My guess is that his top priority right now is to spite Nobu. In a chummy sort of a way, I’m sure.
Somehow the whole idea of WW2 rivalries reminds me of a scene during my stay abroad in Tokyo. An American, a Brit, a Japanese and me, an Austrian, were sitting and having a beer together. It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it was a profound experience for me, because we were talking about how great it is that we all can be friends, when only a few decades ago our grandfathers used to fight each other in WW2. To me personally, it shows that hatred for other peoples and countries is not something innate, but something that is instilled from above.
The Roman empire is long gone, but their strategies, in particular “divide and conquer” are alive and well. Black against white, Christians against Muslims, East against West, rich against poor, French against Brits, Cowboys vs. Redsins (I mean the American football teams) etc. alll our petty rivalries serve the main purpose to focus our energies on people like us and topics which ultimately will not change or have no real significance. Only just don’t look up or at the man behind the curtain!
It makes me sad. Because when you travel you can see that 99% of all people would get along with each other well. Everybody wants to live a peaceful and happy life and be left alone. I think the best way to “fight the system” is to not perpetuate the stereotypes and hate and be loving and kind to everybody. If you feel like you hate a certain group, think twice, or preferably even more often about where that hatred comes from. It’s not from within you.
There, now you know it, I’m a Hippie at heart! Sorry for going all philosophical on you guys! Somehow this blog got a bit out of hand…
If I was Julio, I would keep my cutting torch under lock and key. Actually, I would keep everything that cuts, or welds, or creates any kind of heat locked up and hidden if I was working with Chuck. He should have known right away that Chuck would never let anything happen to his precious fuselage. We’ll see if he can get himself a hangar soon or if he will try to go cheap as long as possible by using Roost-Air’s hangar …
PS: I really like how Chuck refers to the other planes as the “non-vintage aircraft”. It’s not the first time he’s done that.
It was about time for Chuck to find another piece for his Corsair. We weren’t sure how much of the plane we would let him buy and if he will ever finish it. We like to think he will someday, at least I would like to see the plane done. But having this big fuselage be in the way for the next couple of weeks will give us plenty of new material. It’s actually kind of hard to draw a full sized Corsair for Stef since it’s such a big airplane compared to a Cessna 172 or Hughes 500, so forgive us for a slight scaling error here and there.
Of course, in true Chuck fashion, he is jumping the gun slightly on how to paint it. But I do admire Chucks continuing enthusiasm about everything aviation and flying. Since I fly for a living it’s not every day I wake up as enthusiastic as Chuck (especially when it’s 4am) but I do have a lot of great days where I think to myself “Man, I can’t believe I get to fly this thing for a living!” It’s a great feeling.
And here is a question to you guys: Should Chuck paint his Corsair like Ike Kepfords machine or more like Pappy Boyingtons? Let’s hear some opinions!
It’s about time Chuck bought another part for his Corsair. Although at this pace it will still take a few more weeks than expected.
I personally would like to see him buy a fuselage or at least an engine but we don’t always get to tell him what to do anymore. By now he has completely taken on his own persona and we’re all just along for the ride.
We continue with our “ordering parts motif”. Nice try there, Chuck! You guys were spot on when you guessed that the last strip was based on experience. Actually, I think no matter what your hobby is, there will be a glossy catalogue to flaunt in your face all the great stuff you can’t afford.
We’d like to welcome all the new people who joined our Chicken Wings Group on Facebook recently. Seems we’ve gained critical mass or something! Yay! If we continue to grow at this rate, the whole planet will be in our Facebook group in just roughly 5 million years!
Will Chuck ever finish his Corsair? I guess you’ll have to wait for 30 years and see! As you know, good things come to those who wait. I sure hope we’ll still be around then to crack jokes about him!
Julio can be so mean sometimes. But then, it is important to be realistic with your goals. Has anyone of you folks ever participated in a Red Bull Flugtag?
Also, we would like to remind you that our contest is still going on! Simply tell us what your favorite strip is, post it in our forum or on our facebook page and you will have the chance to win a “Silver Chicken”! You have until Friday to enter!
And another step closer to the completion of the project!
On a completely unrelated note, I would like to announce that we will switch shop systems soon! So the old online shops will be gone and replaced by a new system that is more integrated in our website design and, more importantly, much easier and quicker to handle for the customers. More on that soon!
Also, everybody in the US who thinks about shopping for Christmas presents: Our US Online Shop will be closed down for a couple of weeks during December. Mike will be providing more detailed information shortly, but be sure to place your orders in time!
We have a winner for our photo contest!
Man! This was a tough contest to judge. All weekend we’ve already been racking our brains because there were so many good and funny pics. And then the late entries made it even tougher!
But there can only be one winner for this contest so we chose the photo we thought was fun, exciting, creative, crazy, and cool all in one. It’s the photo posted by CharlieAT. So, congratulations CharlieAt, you won a Silver Chicken!
Actually we liked all his photos so it was even hard to choose from within them. HOWEVER! This doesn’t mean the other weren’t great. Like I said, there were so many awesome ones that deciding this truly gave us a headache! Thank you all for participating and showing off all these great shots. I hope you guys enjoyed seeing all the entries as much as we did.
And we will have another contest very soon so don’t give up if you didn’t win this time.
