Today, I will grant you a glimpse into the darkest abyss of my mind. As most of you know, I used to live in Japan for a while. There is a chain of stores called “Don Quijote”, which is pretty amazing really. You can get anything there, from food over furniture to electronics! A bit like a Japanese WalMart, just with about the same amount of stuff compacted into 5% of the space.
Anyway, whenever I hear or read the name “Don Quixote”, it triggers this song in my head (Warning: highly annoying!). The reason for this is that in the Don Quijote stores, they play this song on repeat all day long, every day. Every. Single. Munute. Every. Single. Day. It is impossible for this song to not get ingrained into your brain. I really pity the employees there! I am convinced that this store policy has statistically significant influnence on the rather high suicide rates they have in Japan…

Should of had ear defenders on prefer these songs from Man of La Mancha to that one:

Honda has some catchy commercials! I only listened to this ad here a couple of times, and have been whisteling this tune for *years* now (ask my wife):

Yeah used to annoy my ex with that one
Ah, thank you sir, that by writing this post you’ve brought the “song” of “Don Quixote” franchise back to my memory. I can hardly find the words to express my “gratitude” for that.
Now at least I also remember the main reason why I avoided those stores *g*
Wow! Chuck actually got one! It may have taken a while but still….
I would love to see the Junkers, sigh. PS luckily I have never been to Japan to hear them repeating “donkey…donker…” like that, however it did cause flashbacks to my younger years 1980s England and Nik Kershaw’s “Don Quixote” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZgSpB_zP28 to quote Julio and Chuck “they don’t make them like that any more…thank goodness”
warbirdali: Where do you live?
There are quite a few opportunities to see a Junkers in Germany this summer. The best way will probably be Breitscheid airshow on 1st / 2nd of September: http://www.airshow-breitscheid.de/teilnehmer
@Oddball: Ex? Guess I better be careful what I whistle!
@ Manuel: You’re welcome!
You have to admit that, besides the music, those stores were awesome though, right?
Should we look forward to a C-172 dog fight with…a wind powered electric farm?
