Mike and I loved watching Magnum P.I. when we were kids! And of course we thought the helicopter was way cooler than the Ferrari. That image of T.C.’s Hughes 500 has been engrained so deeply into my mind as the archetypical helicopter, that I think that is the reason why I instinctively started drawing a 500 as Roost Air’s helicopter when we started this comic.
Agreed! The Hughes 500 (then MD500) has always been my favourite helicopter, so I was wrapped to see Chuck flying it (although hopefully with more gentle landings than normal
Best flight so far for me has been in Hawaii where we launched in an MD500 with the doors off & flew from Hilo out to the vent, flying over/near lava & around the vent. Fantastic experience in an awesome helicopter
agreed, I have loved that “egg” shape since I was a wee nipper and built an airfix kit of a vietnam-type one. Not sure I like the Magnum paint scheme though, IMHO Chuck should have an matte olive army paint can

Good question! That seems to be a glitch in the system. It happens every now and then and I have no idea how to fix it. (I’ve tried several times…)
