The invention of economy class

Here’s another strip from our spinoff series “Moments in Aviation History”. We’ve got a few more like that, and maybe we’ve already mentioned that we’d love to put them out as a book. Alas, time is short and we haven’t gotten around to do that yet.

I might as well take this opportunity to make an ominously foreshadowing remark of changes looming on the horizon of the world of Chicken Wings. The changes relate to the fact that we never seem to have enough time for anything and have a hundred projects on hold that we never seem to be able to finish. I just noticed that I still have the “new book out now” ad all over the site for over a year, for example.

Anyway, we’ll come out with an announcement shortly. I just need to find the time to write it first …

    Hey,

You’re not gonna quit Chicken Wings, I hope?

I’ll send a link to this one to the Breitling Wingwalkers, I wonder if they like it.

My Grandpa, and his sisters were of the Barnstorming types back in the “Golden Age” of the airshows.
Somewhere there is a video of a plane flying under a bridge with two ladies out on the wing tips.
    One is my great aunt.

Best scene from the movie Flyboys is the guy out on the wing of a Gotha bomber taking care of the engine in flight.

I always told my father that I was unsure what changes would happen in my life if I ever won the lottery, except that I would never, ever fly economy again.

In my country in the 90-ies, for lack of flights, it was pretty common on domestic flights to bribe the crew and actually fly STANDING on foot in the passengers’ cabin. True story.
