Waaaa!

I think we have already established previously that Chuck is not a very big fan of spiders. It is kind of ironic since real chickens I’ve observed actually seem to be very fond of spiders. It appears they make great snacks. But Chuck may have inherited that from his inventors who are also not into them at all, and boy, are they big “down under” as I came to find out during my last tour down there. Let’s see how it plays out next week. I have a feeling there will be more to this story…

And speaking of more to a story: Only one more day until we reveal the title of the new book and only NINE MORE DAYS until the official release date!!

You guys have been coming up with some great titles so far. We absolutely love it! Some have potential for book 6 since our current title can’t be changed anymore. Nobody has quite guessed it yet but a few look pretty close. Keep posting! Multiple entries are ok! You can post underneath this thread here as well if you like! Or on facebook and twitter. We will be revealing winners tomorrow!

I don’t mind spiders but the huge flying cockroaches we get here are horrifying.
    And they chase you.

My policy with spiders si simple. First I squash them, then I check to make sure they’re well dead….

With Chuck’s fear of spiders, I’m surprised he watched “Arachnophobia’ long enough to pick up this defense technique…

Snakes too. Chickens like tasty snakes.

A fellow pilot told me a fun fact from the ‘dawn’ of airplanes. Back then spiders were a welcome ‘guest’ in any hanger as they would snack on moths, which in turn presented threat to the fabric, covering the plane. That makes spiders and pilots friends in my mind. I’ve had a spider ‘passenger’ in one of the Cessna planes I was flying. While I am no fan of bugs, I was OK letting the buddy crawl around and in turn it was not biting me 🙂 .

Two days ago, I was driving around with my wife in her car. I noticed a spider coming down from the roof while driving. I was grateful to be the one driving when this happens because she loses her mind when she sees a spider.

Me? It was a small spider. I nonchalantly grabbed it between my fingers, squished it, rolled it around a little, and threw it in the floorboard.

I don’t even think she noticed.

In a slightly different vein, I went with a couple of mechanics to a barbecue place a few years ago. They were checking out the airplane after some maintenance. I can’t be sure both of them were IAs, but I know the pilot was.

On the way back, the other mechanic discovered a beetle crawling on him. He grabbed it, and was holding it for awhile. I’m not sure why he didn’t just throw it out the window. I’m guessing to minimize the risk of it just being blown right back into the plane.

It was an older Cessna 172, so I just pulled the ash tray out of his seat back and offered it to him.

The beetle flew back in the ash tray, and was released at our home field.
