Call the tower

As a father of a 2 year old, I think I know approximately what those two air traffic controllers must feel like. So many things need to be repeated over and over again.

It’s only natural that a little kid must first learn how to listen, and I expect things to improve only slowly and gradually, but it is really amazing how little folk can generate an almost impenetrable force field of ignorance. I can be 10 cm in front of his face and loudly call him by his name, but if he doesn’t want to, it seems he doesn’t even perceive somebody being there.

In principle, you get better results *after* you removed the tablet from their hands 🙂

Applies to kids of any age 🙂

I’m surprised they didn’t set up 888-IMCHUCK with an automated answering machine.

    Hi Bear!
Thanks for the kudos! This strip was invented when the Burbank tower asked us to call them on the land line after we land. We were joking if he was gonna give us the number or if he assumed we know it. Also, we were wondering what it was we did wrong, of course. The thought came up the number might be 1-800 “U FKD UP” which we changed to maintain our PG-13 rating 😉
Turned out btw, the tower was actually excited to have helicopters there since we do a lot of landings when we practice, which in turn brings a lot of clicks, which in turn brings them more money. So they wanted us to tell everybody about coming over and not be scared of Class Charlie airspace. And since they were really accommodating about routing us around the airliners, … well here we are 😉

PS: not sure on a visit yet – leaving for Austria, then going to work in Australia right after…
