The number one rule to being a pilot is: Always look cool! You might just have done a landing rating 9 on the richter scale, but if you casually step out wearing a cool set of sunglassea every still things you’re the dogs bollocks.

And as to extra sunglasses, my glider medical actually requires I have a spare set of glasses with me. This is usually my old not quite perfect prescription but good enough prescription sunglasses.

thisguy, sure I think in Germany the law requires a spare pair of glasses on the aircraft if your medical requires glasses, but probably not for non-prescription sunglasses. I generally don’t wear sunglasses as I don’t have prescription sunglasses, and my eyes aren’t overly sensitive. If I ever get to fly over closed snow covers I may have to rethink that.

Looking ‘cool’ as a pilot, also requires not landing like a boomps-a-daisy retard who shouldn’t be driving a wheelbarrow…..

Let’s be fair this time with Chuck. It’s perfectly legal to add anything to the MMEL (except cessna doesn’t provide any for the C172…), and it’s always welcome to improve the safety of his flights.

Landing on a runway 25 on the end of the afternoon makes sunglasses not a luxury sometimes…
