Dent in the propeller

So I’m back from the AERO in Friedrichshafen. I sure had a great time there! Thanks for everybody who stopped by at the Fliegermagazin booth on Friday to chat! I have posted a couple of pictures in our Facebook group.

    That brings to light a question: how DO you tell someone what blade of the propeller the dent is on? “It’s on the upwind side! No, the leading edge! No, no, no, the blade that hits the air first!”

    God help us if there’s a dent in a six-bladed propeller. πŸ˜›

    Simple. ItΒ΄s the left blade when the blade is left of the plane when cylinder #1 is at TOC…

    Unfortunately on a c172 the blades are usually exactly straight at this point πŸ™‚

    TDC doesn’t count when you have a horizontally opposed engine, either. πŸ˜›

    Sorry – safety first – why did Julio spin the prop like that?
    If the switch has a bad ground or if Chuck left the mags hot
    then its ground Chuck and Julio!

    @Rick.
    I was thinking the same thing, not that I was all that serious about it. But we had one guy on the field who would go ballistic if you even just put your hand on a prop.

    @rwill prop won’t catch if the spark plugs are not installed…
