Life insurance
The insurance companies got it all wrong. Who needs money after you die? A life insurance where you get your life back, that’s what we’d need!
By the way, if ever a meteor hit Earth and wiped out all of mankind, can you imagine the amount of life insurance that would have to be paid out?
When I was shopping for life insurance there was an uncomfortable silence when the rep found out I was a pilot. Not like I said I was a heliskier or a race driver or snake charmer for goodness’ sake
“By the way, if ever a meteor hit Earth and wiped out all of mankind, can you imagine the amount of life insurance that would have to be paid out?”
They wouldn’t. They’d ascribe it to an “Act of God” and then cancel all affected policies. (Keeping the money, of course…) Even in an Apocalypse, the insurance industry will do their level best to screw you.
Life insurance isn’t worth a damn – they don’t pay out.
I’ve been killed twice, but they never paid me!
Life Insurance… When I got one to cover my mortgage (did not want to, having no heird, but the laws make that an obligation), the guy frown when I told him I’m a deep scuba diver, and then he closed the file when I told him I’m a skydiver too! 🙁
I tried life insurance through AOPA because for some reason I was thinking they have good deals for pilots (maybe the ads and newsletters I get every week had something to do with that).
I started out at about 25 bucks a month. That is for a private pilot. After we established, I fly helicopters, and for a living, and more than 600hrs a year, and into fires . . . .
we ended up at 450 bucks a month.
Not sure how they figure the risk because I THINK I’d be safer than a private pilot weekend flyer since we have to go through tons of annual training a year not to mention being current…..
Ha! Mike I bet they use you as an example in Insurance sales training school as a “Worst-case scenario”! What would Flo do?
Well, it’s effective, because when you find out your monthly premium you immediately die!
